Welcome to Camberley
A rapidly expanding and improved modern town with a mix of rural and modern buildings, where visitors and residents alike enjoy both its modern shopping centre as well as a variety of pubs, clubs and restaurants.
The town as it now stands has its roots in the building of The Royal Military College, which later became the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in 1812. A new town settlement grew in the area around the college, through time the Staff College was established to the east of the Academy and a property speculator built the nearby Cambridge Hotel. The surrounding area became known as Cambridge Town, but was renamed “Camberley” in January 1877.
The modern day Camberley is a bustling and vibrant town which has undergone much updating. The recent regeneration in the town centre has brought shopping, eating and entertainment to the heart of Camberley, where you can enjoy a nine-screen Vue Cinema, 22 lane Bowlplex as well as an exciting range of cafés and restaurants including; Nando’s, Chiquito, The Real China, Bella Italia, Frankie & Benny’s, Prezzo, Starbucks and shops; Next, Laura Ashley and many more.
